The National Tripartite Committee concluded discussions on the National Daily Minimum wage today, Thursday, February 27, 2003.
The National Tripartite Committee agreed that the new National Daily Minimum wage for 2003 should be nine thousand two hundred cedis (?9,200.00).
The effective date of implementation is February 1, 2003.
- 1. The Social partners committed themselves to strengthen the National Tripartite Committee by creating a Secretariat to engender better and more regular consultations on economic and social issues.
2. The National Tripartite Committee also agreed to strengthen the mechanism for Government and employers to make consumer credit more easily available to workers
In furtherance of their concern to address the question of incomes, the social partners committed themselves to generating debate on the income issue in order to arrive at a clear basis for a National Incomes Policy by the end of the year 2003.
