Workers of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) have finally agreed on a 153-acre land space to install their aviation equipment.
This comes after the workers embarked on a week’s demonstration, which eventually led to the suspension of services to domestic flights extending into the weekend.
The strike action, which started Tuesday, July 5, was to push for the release of some encroached 160-acre lands earmarked for aviation purposes at Madina.
3FM has gathered that after several consultations between government and the workers, an agreement has been reached to address the Authority’s short term need.
Spokesperson for the workers, William Amoako told 3FM on Thursday that: “What we were looking for we didn’t get but after we met the Chief of Staff, there has been series of consultations and finally 153 acres have been provided for us to install the equipment immediately.
“So, we are okay for now.”
He added: “Going forward for the long term, government has promised to get some portions of land elsewhere as it’s impossible for us to reclaim all the land space at the Madina site due to the level of development.”
