Eugene Boakye Antwi, the Member of Parliament for the Subin constituency in the Ashanti region, has stated that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has regretted not sacking his cousin, former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, earlier.

According to him, the President, after realizing the progress of the economy under the leadership of the current Finance Minister, Dr. Amin Adam, has been filled with sadness and regret for not heeding the advice of some New Patriotic Party (NPP) caucus members in Parliament who had opposed Ken Ofori-Atta’s tenure as Minister.

Speaking in an interview on Oyerepa TV on October 21, 2024, Eugene, who was a key advocate for the removal of Ken Ofori-Atta, stated, “Ken Ofori-Atta is solely to be blamed for the state of our economy.

“Why did we rise up to kick against his administration? After the President replaced him with Amin Adam, now he regrets not listening to us earlier.

“Akufo-Addo has really regretted because when he observed how Amin revitalized the economy and gave Ghanaians hope ...that we could win the election. That is why Ghanaians should vote for Bawumia to continue reviving the economy.”

The President, on February 14, 2024, sacked his cousin Ken Ofori-Atta in the penultimate reshuffling of his administration and replaced him with Dr. Amin Adam, who has reported that the economy has been making progress under his leadership.
