Akufo-Addo solicits support for Amoako's bid for ADB job

Accra, Nov. 19, GNA - Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Minister of Foreign Affairs, has led a six-member delegation to consult a number of West African Leaders to solicit support for Dr K. Y. Amoako, Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Africa, who is seeking the post of President of the African Development Bank.

An official statement issued in Accra on Friday said President John Agyekum Kufuor nominated Dr Amoako for the post, which becomes vacant in 2005.

The Minister consulted the Heads of State of Benin, Togo, Mali, Burkina Faso, Guinea and Senegal.

Nana Akufo-Addo, who expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the consultations, was accompanied by Ghana's Ambassadors to Senegal and Guinea, Mr Frederick Laryea and Shaibu Musah Shariff, respectively, and officials of the Ministries of Finance and Foreign Affairs.
