All is set for Skills/Technology Fair 2014

All is set for the Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (COTVET) Skills/Technology for 2014 slated for September 30, 2014 at the Accra International Conference Centre.

The Fair forms part of strategies adopted by COTVET through the Skills Development Fund (SDF) platform to share the outcomes of its support to the private sector and promote dialogue between research and technology developers and industry.

A visit by the Ghana News Agency on Monday to the venue of the event saw contractors putting finishing touches to exhibition stands.

The Fair will provide a platform for addressing the skills and technology needs of business enterprises operating in both the formal and the informal sectors of the economy of Ghana.

It will also provide both business and technological environment to share the outcomes of its support to the private sector, as well as promote dialogue between research and technology developers and industry as part of its strategy.

The two-day event is being organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, and sponsored by Danish International Development Agency and the World Bank.

The Fair is expected to bring together participants from small, medium and larger scale businesses, research institutions, science and technology institutions, development partners and the media.

The SDF is a challenge fund, providing a demand-driven response to three critical challenges encountered by the productive sectors of Ghana: an adequately qualified labour force, the urgency of providing new entrants to the labour market with gainful, employable skills, and inadequate access to new technologies and innovations.
