The Ghana Revenue Authority has denied claims of engaging in a purported vehicle and goods auction, as widely circulated in a press statement shared on social media on December 3, 2024, which bears the signature of the former Commissioner-General, Dr. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah.
In a statement issued by the Authority on December 11, 2024, it described the allegation as false, urging the general public to disregard the claims and treat them with the necessary contempt.
The GRA, however, clarified that all vehicle and goods auctions are conducted strictly under established protocols by its Customs Division.
“The fake media release bears the signature of the former Commissioner-General, Rev. Dr. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah, but has the name of the current Commissioner-General, Madam Julie Essiam,” the GRA said.
The Authority therefore called on the general public to rely on official communications from the Authority for accurate information and advised against making payments to unauthorised persons.
The GRA pointed out that it remains committed to transparency and cautioned individuals to remain vigilant against fraudulent schemes misusing its name.
