Aluworks loss brings down main index

A 100-cedi loss by Aluworks on Monday led to a decline in the Ghana Stock Exchange All- Share Index as investors continued to stay away from the market.

The index lost 1.51 points at 1,348.86 points and the change for the year and market capitalisation also went down. Change for the year closed down at 40.10 per cent from 41.26 per cent while market capitalisation ended the day lower at 4,957.48 billion cedis from 4,960.43 billion cedis.

There were three price changes - two up one down. Aluworks lost 100 cedis at 3,600 cedis while Guinness Ghana Limited and Fan Milk Limited gained 10 cedis and two cedis to end the day at 1,010 cedis and 1,755 cedis respectively.

Total shares traded dropped to 76,100 shares from 219,600 shares. Only eight out of the 23 listed equities sold shares with British American Tobacco selling 30,500 shares. The following are the last prices of listed equities in cedis:
