Anglogold Ashanti Gives $400,000 to Ghana @50

The country Director of AngloGold Ashanti, Mr. Ernest Abankorah on Friday presented a cheque of US$400,000 to Ghana @50 to sponsor the Kwame Nkrumah Chair at the Institute of African Studies considering the fact that the company has a strong presence in Africa. More importantly, he said it is to truly share in Dr Kwame Nkrumah's vision of a fully developed continent - Economic and Political.

He believes this will beef up the capacity of the Institute to expand its research and scholarship into Africa's contribution to global development.

As agreed, he said the sponsorship will among other things fund annual AngloGold Ashanti lectures on business and entrepreneurship to be organized under the Chair to promote the sharing of business experiences and new ideas for the benefit of the good people of Ghana and others beyond our borders.

He said another US$100,000 has been donated towards the construction of the proposed Neuro Science Hospital to be built at Korle Bu.
