The Chairman of the Dangote Refinery, Aliko Dangote, has warned that individuals seeking to frustrate the smooth operations of the refinery must refrain, or else they risk paying a huge price for their actions.

This comes after the Nigerian industrialist faced a standoff with Nigeria’s petroleum regulator NNPC over the production of petroleum products, which many believe will reduce importation that is mostly controlled by alleged fuel cartels in the West African country.

Touching on the supply of raw liquid to the refinery and regulation, Dangote is assured that there will be no disruptions to operations as Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has taken the initiative to the Federal Executive Council.

“I don’t think there will be any disruptions as our operations have been approved by the Federal Executive Council, and I think whoever wants to play with the instructions of the President will pay a big price, so I don’t have any fear that supply will be as promised,” Dangote said in an interview with TVC News.

Aliko Dangote, who is also Africa’s richest man, believes that the production of gasoline at his refinery is set to upend the Europe-to-Africa fuel trade and reduce Nigeria's reliance on imported refined products.

His comments come after the Dangote Refinery commenced production of gasoline products in the past week.

The move will allow petrol marketers to buy products directly from the Dangote Refinery. When fully operational, the refinery will be able to produce about 330,000 barrels a day of gasoline, which is about 1 percent of the global demand for road fuel, estimated at 27 million barrels a day by Bloomberg.
