April June joins other African entrepreneurs in AU Forum

April June Company Limited, a Ghanaian-owned company has participated in the first African Women and Youth Business Linkages Forum in Nairobi, Kenya organized by the African Union Commission (AUC) in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the meeting which brought together more than hundred youth from across the continent and different development sectors was under the theme, “Youth Business Linkage Forum.”

The company was represented by its General Manager Ms Esther Nyarko. According to her, the forum is a timely opportunity for women to network, discover sources of funding, share experiences and build new partnerships to enhance their entrepreneurial capacities.

These experiences she added will help address some of the challenges some women face in business as well as provide them the platform for peer learning from successful business women that have overcome these challenges.

Ms Nyarko called for support and more investment in women's small-scale businesses as they tend to be more vulnerable, less secured and often uninsured. It is therefore important to leverage support from the private sector to explore ways of investing in these businesses.

She believes that April June Company Limited would do its best to facilitate collaborative learning and sharing of experiences that will increase success rates for business start-ups among women entrepreneurs as well as identify and promote business opportunities for women entrepreneurs within the emerging intra-Africa trade Agenda.

The forum aims at bringing African Women in Business together to network, conduct Business to Business (B2B), share experiences and best practices, motivate each other and showcase their businesses and be an inspiration to one another. It also sought to enhance women's leadership in public and private sector institutions at both national and regional levels.

This forum is planned to take place annually, considering the importance of making the voice of the Women in business heard and inspire young women entrepreneurs working on a legacy for the next generation, in the spirit of Agenda 2063.
