Arkcity-Link Foundation To Receive $2,100 Ict Donation

ACCRA, GHANA –Arkcity-Link Foundation in Winneba will receive an information and communications technology (ICT) donation valued at $2,100 at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 11 through a joint partnership of Africa ICT Right and Crossroads International, Hong Kong. The Foundation serves a student population of more than 500 students from 16 local schools. Invited guests include: the Foundation Secretary Mr. Isaac Oko Baidoo, Director Mrs. Felicity Efua Arkhurst, Staff and students.

Donated items include: eight computers, one overhead projector and a projector screen. Presently, the school has only two computers serving 613 students. Presenting the items to the foundation, the Executive Director of AIR, Mr. Daniel Kwaku Ganyoame noted that the donation was made possible through a collaborative effort between Africa ICT Right and Crossroads International, Hong Kong to enhance the teaching and learning of ICT in basic schools in Effutu Municipality. He noted that the availability of ICT facilities to children at early age would help to develop their skills to compete equally with their counterparts in urban areas. The Foundation Secretary Mr. Isaac Oko Baidoo assured that the equipment would be put to good use to promote effective teaching and learning of ICT.

“AIR is driven by the belief that our country deserves the opportunity to participate as a full partner in the digital community,” said Daniel Kwaku Ganyoame, the Executive Director. “We hope this donation will empower our students and bring us one step closer to bridging the digital divide.”

Based in Accra, AIR is an ICT oriented NGO that seeks to bridge the digital divide by empowering youth and providing computers, training, and support to underserved communities. Crossroads International is a Hong Kong-based international nonprofit that works to meet global needs.
