Ho, Sept 26, GNA - A trade show planned to coincide with the Yam Festival of the chiefs and people of the Asogli Traditional Area opened in Ho on Sunday.
Its objective is to blend celebration with trade to spur economic development of the Volta Region.
"As we join hands with the traditional authority throughout the two weeks celebration and beyond, our common objective is to blend celebration/tourism with trade for wealth creation..." Mr Micca Tulevo, Chief Executive Officer of the Mic-Div Total Marketing/Communication told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at the show. Forty firms and individuals are taking part in the eight-day fair that will show case artefacts made in the region and other manufactured goods.
Items on display on the first day of the fair include cookware, electrical goods, mattresses, beads, traditional dresses, smocks and carvings.
Mr Tulevo expressed gratitude to the Ho Municipal Assembly for picking up the cost of venue of the fair and the Kpando and South-Tongu District assemblies for sponsoring a number of small businesses in their districts to the fair. A similar fair will be organized from October 24 to 30 at Hohoe during the Gbidukorza.
