Bogoso (W/R) May 28,GNA- Bogoso Gold Limited (BGL) is to expend 460 million cedis for the maintenance of amenities within communities in its catchments area this year.
Termed: " Community Amenities Maintenance Budget", the money would be distributed to Prestea Urban Council and Bogoso and Bondaye area councils.
Nana Richard Hagan, Community, Environment and Safety Manager, BGL, announced this at a meeting with representatives of the beneficiary urban and area councils at Bogoso on Saturday. He said BGL would like to promote and inculcate the culture of maintenance within communities in the mine footprints through partnership with the local government bodies.
Nana Hagan appealed for peaceful coexistence between the communities and the Mine to ensure the success of the scheme. Mr Emmanuel Kow Korsa, Chairman, Prestea Urban Council thanked BGL for the scheme and said it would help prolong the lifespan of social amenities in the area.
