Banking stocks still lead the way, but Ayrton records bulk sale

Accra, Nov. 1, GNA - Banking stocks led the way in Thursday's trading on the Accra bourse to push the main stock index up by 7.1 points, but Ayrton recorded a huge sale of its shares.

The GSE All-Share Index, the benchmark measure, ended at 5,846.72 points from Wednesday's 5,839.62 points and change for the year to date rising slightly to 16.79 per cent from 16.65 per cent. A total of 18.201 million shares changed hands with Ayrton Drug Manufacturing Limited selling 18 million. However, it recorded no increase in its share price.

On the broader market, there were four price changes, three of them banking stocks.

CAL Bank continued its rise by gaining 0.0185 GH cedis at 0.3700 GH cedis, Ecobank Ghana was up by 0.0007 GH cedis at 1.6515 GH cedis and SG-SSB was better by 0.0090 GH cedis at 1.1000 GH cedis. Unilever inched up by 0.0001 GH cedis at 2.1001 GH cedis. Market capitalisation was up at 118,536.89 billion GH cedis from 118,498.81 billion GH cedis.
