Banks urged to work hard to retain customers

Paga (U/E), Dec. 29, GNA- The Managing Director of the ARB APEX Bank, Mr. E. K. Kwapong, has called on management and staff of banks to work hard to ensure the retention of customers. He made the call during the 16th Annual General Meeting of the Naara Rural Bank at Paga on Thursday. He said the cost of losing one customer was much higher than the cost of attracting a customer and it was therefore incumbent upon the management and staff of banks to strive hard to retain customers.

The Managing Director appealed to banks to strengthen their internal mechanisms to ensure that they operated in a sound and safe financial environment. "You should also continue to add more value to your business through innovation, commitment and trust." Mr Kwapong called on shareholders to consider electing board members who had integrity and of varied background and experiences.

In a good will message the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Paul Acquah, urged the directors, management and staff of the bank to work as a team to enable the bank to achieve its goals. The Member of Parliament for Navrongo Central, Mr. Kofi Addah, commended the bank for loans it granted to people in the community and also for being the avenue through which most of government's poverty alleviation funds were being channeled and disbursed to the people.
