The Minister for Works and Housing, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, says the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flag bearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has taken responsibility for Ghana’s economy.

Oppong Nkrumah emphasized the government’s collective responsibility in addressing economic challenges.

“We acknowledge our role in the current state of the economy and are working tirelessly to find solutions,” Mr. Oppong Nkrumah stated on State of Affairs on GHOne TV with Lantam Papanko on Monday.

He continued: “Yes, he has taken responsibility. Why is he talking about the cost of living? We’re talking as if we have to be scared. Why is he talking about the cost of living? Because he takes responsibility that as part of the government, people have been hit by pressures from all over the world. There’s a global cost of living crisis which is also hitting Canada, yes he hasn’t run away.”

According to him, Dr. Bawumia introduced over 30 policy prescriptions, demonstrating his competency and capacity. “When a crisis hits, Dr. Bawumia offers alternative propositions, taking risks and introducing innovative solutions,” he added.

Oppong Nkrumah highlighted Dr. Bawumia’s innovative initiatives, such as the Go4Oil policy, as exemplary responses to the current economic crisis.

“Dr. Bawumia’s leadership has been instrumental in mitigating the effects of the crisis. His forward-thinking approach has introduced solutions that benefit Ghanaians,” Oppong Nkrumah explained. He commended Dr. Bawumia’s commitment to digitization, citing it as a key factor in Ghana’s economic progress.

“Dr. Bawumia’s vision for a digitized economy has yielded positive results and demonstrates his dedication to driving growth,” the Minister noted.
