President of the Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG), Kojo Mattah has called on member organisations to adopt policies and practices that will bring the desired good to bear on society.

Mr. Mattah who was speaking at the media launch of the Institute’s 28th National Marketing Performance Awards ceremony in Accra stressed that companies can gain recognition when they realise the need to tie their brands to items and issues they hope will resonate with customers.

“We believe effectively connecting on issues that people have widespread awareness of can lead to strengthening of relationships and positively affect our life. We should know that doing what your customers want is generally a good idea,” he said. Stressing that CIMG is dedicated to improving its members’ professionalism while advocating for the general good of the entire nation, Mr. Mattah called on corporate Ghana to tie their activities to negative traits in society such as poor environment, child labour and galamsey to help bring positive changes to the world.

He said it is for this reason that the theme for this year’s awards, “Cause related marketing; A panacea for national behavioral change” was chosen as it “speaks volume to marketing practitioners and Corporate Ghana to take up the challenge to practice cause related marketing as a push for positive attitudinal change”.

Mr. Mattah stated that CIMG has been responding to new trends and developments to ensure that the awards scheme reflects the practices, standards and principles expected from award winners.

The award ceremony which will be held on September 23, 2017, will award over 40 individuals and organisations from various categories under 6 broad areas which include the Hall of Fame, Personalities, Media, Business, Products and Not-for-Profit organisations.
