Biometric registration of SSNIT contributors soon

The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), has announced its decision to undertake nationwide biometric registration of its contributors.

The goal is to help remove multiple registrations, prevent fraud and to make for easier and quicker verification of the identity of members of the scheme.

Mr Allandu Azu, the Kumasi Area Manager, was speaking at a seminar held by the Trust at Bibiani in the Bibiani-Anwhiaso-Bekwai District. This brought together all of its branch managers, local unions and senior staff association executives in the Western Region.

He said the exercise is to commence soon and that this would be done at employers premises, SSNIT’s branch offices and designated places for pensioners.

Mr Azu also spoke of plans to automate its core business activities employer-member registration, issuance of smart card to contributors, contribution data management, and benefit processing.

This, he said was being done under a new application system called Operational Business Suite (OBS).
