A total of 94 cybersecurity service providers, professionals, and establishments were certified and accredited by the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) on Thursday, September 12, 2024.

This follows the regulatory framework introduced by the Authority on March 1, 2023, to license Cybersecurity Service Providers (CSPs) and accredit Cybersecurity Establishments (CEs) and Cybersecurity Professionals (CPs), in accordance with the Cybersecurity Act, 2020 (Act 1038), sections 4(k), 49, 50, 51, 57, and 59.

The certification and accreditation ensure that the services provided to Ghanaians meet approved standards and procedures.

Speaking to the host of BizTech on GhanaWeb TV, Ernestina Serwaa Asante, at the licensing and accreditation ceremony in Accra on Thursday, September 12, 2024, the head of National Computer Emergency Response Team at the Cyber Security Authority, Stephen Cudjoe-Seshie indicated that licensees must observe utmost good faith towards clients while complying with Act 1038 and all applicable laws, including confidentiality and data protection obligations.

"As we congratulate all recipients today, we wish to reiterate that the issuance of these licenses and certificates of accreditation bestows on you a responsibility not to make any false representation in the provision of the respective services we have been licensed and accredited to provide," he said.

Stephen Cudjoe-Seshie stated that the Cyber Security Authority has so far registered 252 CSPs, 65 CEs, and 1,451 CPs.

The license for Cybersecurity Professionals is renewable annually, while the licenses for Cybersecurity Service Providers and Cybersecurity Establishments are valid for two years.

He warned that defaulting institutions and individuals would face appropriate sanctions, including criminal prosecutions and administrative penalties.
