Book on business management studies launched

Accra, Sept. 14, GNA - Professor Lawrence Kojo Owusu-Ansah, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Arts, University of Cape Coast, on Thursday launched a book titled: "Revival Business Management Textbook" with a call on educational authorities to ensure the teaching of the course at all levels of education because it was crucial and indispensable to national development.

He pointed out that the outdooring of the book was timely as it would be of immense benefit to students, who were preparing for the West Africa Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSSCE). Prof. Owusu-Ansah said the 300-page book provided the easiest way of passing examinations in business management, which had over the years been a bane of many candidates.

He said he was optimistic that the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) would adopt the book that had the entire syllabus of management studies in second cycle institutions.

Mr Samuel Oppong Mensah, the author who is a lecturer of Principles of Management at the University of Cape Coast, said the concept of the book came up at a time when a student was unable to answer a particular question in business management during the 2002 SSSCE.

"I took up the challenge and began a research that spanned a five-year period not only to find a lasting solution to the problem but also to provide an extensive masterpiece that would seek to address most of the teething snags related to the study of business management. Mr Mensah said the book was complete as it provided step-by-step tutorials in topics that facilitated easy reading and understanding of the subject.

"It will additionally assist tutors of business management to have material to teach students without stress," he said.
