The inaugural Borode Festival, a vibrant celebration of plantain processing, culture, and community, will take place on March 7 and 8, 2025, joining the list of food festivals in the country aimed at uniting people through culinary experiences.

The two-day event, organisers say, will kick off “with a colourful opening ceremony that sets the tone for a day of plantain-filled fun”, with a plantain exhibition which will “explore the fascinating world of plantains through interactive displays, exhibits, and showcases”, before the plantain food festival which would see “a variety of delicious plantain-based dishes, from traditional to modern twists.”

There will also be cultural workshops, borode night, a plantain farm tour, a plantain business forum, a plantain cooking competition and a musical concert to climax the celebration.

“We are thrilled to launch the Borode Festival, which celebrates the taste of tradition in Ghanaian cuisine,” said Mr. Felix Afutu, CEO of Mcphilix Limited, during the launch on August 29, 2024.

“We look forward to sharing this experience with the community and creating a memorable experience for all attendees.”
