Accra, April 6, GNA - The Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) made a faint recovery in quiet trading on Wednesday but failed to shake off the heavy bearish cloud that had hung over the bourse since the beginning of the year.
Two equities made movements on either side of the divide, with British American Tobacco (BAT) regaining the 400 cedis it lost on Monday, with Enterprise Insurance Company (EIC) going down by 500 cedis. BAT ended trading at 4,500 cedis and EIC closed at 7,500 cedis on a day that shares that changed hands slumped to 214,700 from 1.452 million shares during the previous trading.
The GSE All-Share Index, the main stock index, climbed by 9.2 points at 6,389.45 points and change for the year inched up at -6.02 per cent.
Market capitalisation was better at 96,488.85 billion cedis from 96,473.98 billion cedis from 3,663.51 million issued shares.
