Bourse index falls on GCB loss

Accra, Aug. 1, GNA - A big loss by Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) contributed to another slide in the main indices of the Ghana Stock Exchange during trading on Monday.

The GSE All-Share Index, the main market indicator, fell by 54.76 points to close at 4,977.80 points.

Change for the year-to-date slid further in the red at -26.78 per cent.

On the broader market there were three price changes - two up and one down.

Starwin Products Limited gained 50 cedis at 650 cedis and Fan Milk Limited inched up by one cedi at 15,001 cedis. Ghana Commercial Bank lost 900 cedis at 8,100 cedis.

Shares traded slumped to 45,200 from 781,200 on Friday. Market capitalisation was poorer at 92,122.98 billion cedis from 92,272.70 billion cedis on Friday from 3,400.54 million issued shares.
