Britannia Airways To Operate London-Accra Route

Britannia Airways “The Holiday Airline” of the UK and one of its largest Charter operations, is to operate directly from London Gatwick to Accra, carrying tourists in their fleet of Boeing 767 aircraft.

The operation is intended to ease the numerous problems encountered by tourists planning on travelling to and from Ghana, making available extra seating capacity at reduced charter prices. The maiden flight takes off from London on December 16, leaving Accra for London on December 17.

A wholly-owned Ghanaian Tour Operator at Tesano, Gold Coast Travel and Tours are sponsors of this charter programme, and it is estimated that Britannia would carry around 20,000 tourists in their first year of operation.

The introduction of this service will facilitate the consolidation of tourism to Ghana, in furtherance of the government’s objective of placing Ghana on the world tourism map.
