The Bui Power Authority (BPA) has hinted its Renewable Energy Project will come on stream in 2018.
The Project when completed will generate some 250 megawatts of power to feed into the national grid.
When completed, the renewable power project alone can power the entire Northern, Upper East and Upper West Regions. Currently, the three regions require 150 megawatts of power.
According to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Bui Power Authority, Fred Oware, the project is on course. He said the installation of the switched yard to transmit power will complete preliminary preparations.
At a breakfast meeting with Business Editors on Monday, December 1, Mr Oware was optimistic that the project will improve power generation in the country when completed.
On the possible merger between the Volta River Authority (VRA) and the Bui Power Authority, he said a committee has been tasked to look into the matter.
