CEPS collect C73.5bn revenue in Eastern Region

Koforidua, Feb.17, GNA- The Customs Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS) collected 73.5 billion cedis as revenue in the Eastern Region last year, exceeding its target of 29.4 billion cedis, by over 150 per cent.

Assistant Commissioner of CEPS in charge of the Koforidua Collection, Emmanuel Kermah, who announced this at a staff get-together at Koforidua, said all targeted revenue for petroleum, import duties and Value Added Tax were exceeded.

He said the Service also performed well in non-revenue duties it colleted on behalf of the Food and Drugs Board, Narcotics Control Board and the Environmental Protection Agency.

The Acting Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Gustarv Narh-Dometey, pledged the support of the Regional Coordinating Council to facilitate the work of CEPS and other revenue agencies. The Regional Director of the Information Services Department, Mr Emmanuel H. Appeaning who chaired the function, expressed the need for Ghana to boost internally- generated revenue.
