CEPS is being supported to reposition itself

Accra, March 3, GNA - The Customs, Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS) is being supported to reposition itself with an increase in its retention of revenue collected in the quest to secure and facilitate Global Trade within the Framework of Standards of the World Customs Organization (WCO).

In line with this, the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning and the Revenue Agencies Governing Board (RAGB) are committed to provide the service with logistics, including patrol boats, vehicles, communication and office equipment to help it discharge its functions more efficiently.

A statement signed by Ms Annie Anipa, Assistant Commissioner (Public Relations) in Accra said Major-General Richardson Baiden, Commissioner of CEPS, said this at separate durbars during a tour of offices of the Service in Kumasi, Sunyani, Tamale, Paga, Wa and Takoradi.

He said office and residential accommodation with enhanced human resource development would be provided to facilitate security and trade.

Major-General Baiden appealed to officers to continue to balance their work with diplomacy, utmost patriotism, honesty and fairness and to endeavor at all times to support government policies in the national interest.

He said "Corporate Ghana's" security is a shared responsibility. He cautioned officers to abide by their conditions of service since they would be disciplined if they breached these conditions. 03 March 06
