The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), on Wednesday paid a familiarisation visit to the Ministry of Trade and Industry, to identify ways of promoting made-in-Ghana goods.
The delegation that was led by Ann Godfrey, Chief Executive Officer, CIM United Kingdom, also visited the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, and the National Accreditation Board.
Addressing the delegation, Mr. George Kobina Fynn, Director of Policy Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation at the ministry, said the role of professional marketing was key to the promotion of made-in-Ghana goods.
He urged Ghanaians to patronise locally produced goods, to create jobs and grow local industries.
Mr. Fynn advised manufacturers in Ghana to improve upon production to become competitive on the international market.
He commended CIM for promoting made-in-Ghana goods, and called on the group to initiate effective marketing strategies, to help promote made-in-Ghana goods.
Mr. Abraham Tettey-Nartey, CIM Secretary, said the group sought to enhance professional marketing to help promote made-in-Ghana goods.
He said the delegation was in Ghana to help increase the membership of CIM in order to give Ghana a competitive advantage in the global marketing practice and a bigger voice on the international marketing scene.
He said “Due to Ghana’s enthusiastic participation in the global launch, Ann chose Ghana as the first country outside UK to visit, interact, explain and firm up ideas that can benefit our country.”
Ann Godfrey commended Ghana for ensuring peace, and said CIM UK would work with Ghana to promote professional marketing in the country.
