The price of cement has increased, TV3 can confirm.

The situation is as a result of the instability of the local currency in the international market, according to reports.

TV3’s checks at various distributor joints showed that a bag of cement sells at Ghc31 from a previous price of Ghc27.

But speaking on TV3’s Midday Live on Tuesday, June 16, Dr Dawson Amoah, the Corporate Strategy and Planning Director of Ghacem Limited, said the ex-factory prices have gone up by Ghc2.8.

He gave the price breakdown as from Ghc26.555 to Ghc29.375.

According to him, Ghacem has no influence on price increases at the distributor level.

He blamed importers for the high cost of raw materials in the production of the product.
