Aggrieved GETFund contractors who are yet to receive payment for work done for several months now have been assured of government's resolve to settle the claims.
Deputy Administrator of the Ghana Education Trust Fund, Stephen Baffoe, made the pledge when the contractors marched to the GETFund offices to demand payment for work done.
According to him, the incoming NPP administration will settle all outstanding debts in the shortest possible time.
“Your contracts with government is a legal one so a change in government will not affect the payment of monies owed you” he asserted.
According to the contractors, they are owed over GHc 500 million spanning a period of six months, a situation they claim has crippled their businesses.
“We are waiting for the controller and accountant general to release the monies owed the GETFund from July up to the end of October. We are looking at between GHC 280 million and GHC300 million,” Stephen Baffoe explained.
