Chartered Institute of Marketing chief visits Ghana

Anne Godfrey, Chief Executive Officer, Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM, UK) will embark on a four day visit to Ghana from December 2- 6, 2014.

The Chief Executive Officer during her stay in Ghana will hold discussions with various Marketing and Corporate Interest Groups, Media, Academia, Other Professional Associations and lead a Focus Group Discussion on the future of the Marketing Profession worldwide.

CIM UK recently underwent a re-branding exercise and launched its new Corporate Strategy through the world-wide webinar.

A statement issued by Mr. George Eric Gyamfi-Osew, President of CIM Ghana Branch, said due to Ghana’s enthusiastic participation in the Global Launch, the CEO decided to choose Ghana as the first Country outside the UK to visit, interact, explain and firm up some of the issues arising out of the launch.

The Chartered Institute of Marketing is concerned about quality Professional Marketing Education and Practice, and has been doing so for some time now.

The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), established in 1911, is the largest Professional Marketing Body worldwide with over 40,000 Members.

It is the only Institution worldwide with the Royal Charter to confer “Chartered Marketer” Status on distinguished Professional Marketers. In Ghana currently, there are a little over 100 Chartered Marketers.

According to the statement Anne Godfrey’s visit among the other reasons stated is to help increase this number in order to give Ghana a competitive advantage in Global Marketing Practice and a bigger voice on the Global Marketing scene as far as the Institute’s Global Elections and other appointments are concerned.

She will also participate in a Stakeholder’s Conference at Zenith University College, near the Trade Fair, Accra.

The conference is expected to address recent developments in CIM especially the introduction of dual marketing qualification to selected tertiary institutions in Ghana, the new CIM brand, the changes in the syllabus, accredited learning centre challenges, students’ issues and other general challenges facing the development of CIM in Ghana.

Participants of this conference would include Heads of tertiary institutions, CIM tutors, students’ representative associations, marketing practitioners among others.

The CEO of CIM UK is expected to deliver a lecture on the theme: Attaining Professional Marketing Standard: Capabilities and Competence at the British Council on December 4, 2014.
