Ho, Feb 25, GNA - About 15 chiefs from different parts of the Volta Region on Friday converged at the Palace of Togbe Afede XIV, Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, to celebrate the visit to the region of a three-member investment team from China. Mr Lin said his visit, the first to Africa, was exploratory and has started collaboration in business by his group with Ghana and especially Volta Region.
Togbe Afede said the Lin group started in 1964 on a small scale but had grown over the years into a multinational outfit with interests in the Philippines, USA, China, Taiwan and Canada. He said the group was in real estate, banking, trading, and hotels.
Mr Kofi Dzamesi, the Volta Regional Minister, told the Chinese team that the region had "all the ingredients for investment and successful enterprise".
He listed agro-processing, fishing, salt mining, which he said, should be of particular interest to the Chinese in view of the projected high returns.
Mr Dzamesi invited the team to start a real estate business in the Ho Municipality where 20,000 housing units were needed in the next three years.
The Regional Minister commended the Agbogbomefia whose individual endeavours he said had brought a "new orientation to traditional leadership".
