‘China committed to fruitful relations with Ghana’

Mr Gong Jianzhong, Ambassador of China, says his country is committed to fruitful bilateral relations with Ghana. “Recent years have witnessed sustained development of bilateral relations and economic cooperation between China and Ghana.”

Mr Jianzhong, said this at the commissioning of a new plant of Sanbao Ghana Pharmaceuticals Limited in Tema. He said the occasion marked one more inspiring event, concerning cooperation between the two countries.

“Sanbao has now provided 200 jobs for Ghanaians, and 500 more jobs would be added in coming years.” Mr Jianzhong continued, “The Chinese government would continue to encourage Chinese enterprises to invest in Ghana, to create more job opportunities for Ghanaians’.

Ms Sherry Aryittey, Minister of Health, commissioned the facility and said Government was committed, to ensuring greater access to a wider range of affordable but quality health services.

“We, therefore, welcome initiatives such as this, which allow the private sector to invest in areas where highly technical and more sophisticated services could be provided.’

She said with the introduction of the National Health Insurance Scheme, sustainable drug supply was a critical success factor, adding, “I am glad that Sanbao is poised to provide this much needed support.’

Sanbao Ghana Pharmaceuticals is a limited liability pharmaceutical manufacturing company, established in Ghana in 1999. The company is engaged in the manufacture of high quality intravenous infusions, mainly for the Ghanaian market and also the West African sub-region.
