Board Chairman of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Joe Ghartey, has lauded Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the launch of the Citizen App, saying that it will improve revenue collection greatly and transform Ghana for The better.

Joe Ghartey, delivering a speech at the launch of the Citizen App in Accra recently, said the app "represents not only an important step forward for the digital transformation of Ghana but it represents the future of Ghana."

According to him, the app will lead Ghanaians to a future where they see a completely transformed nation.

He applauded President Nana Akufo-Addo and Vice President Bawumia for the strides they have made so far in transforming the nation digitally.

On revenue generation, he said the app will greatly impact tax collection, recounting that in July this year, GRA exceeded its revenue collection target.

Again, he said GRA has exceeded the revenue collection target for the third quarter of the year, representing a 38.6 percent growth over the same period in 2023.

He explained that the success in tax collection this year was achieved in a "more business-friendly manner" unlike the brutal approach in previous years.

He said GRA has used “education, engagement” and “digitalization” in achieving its revenue collection target.

The Citizen App is designed as a personalized platform for all Ghanaians, aiming to improve access to a wide range of government services while delivering real-time information to users.

One of the standout features of the Citizen App is its Data Interoperability System.

This system facilitates the meaningful exchange, interpretation, and utilization of data across different systems and platforms.

By connecting various technologies and formats, it ensures seamless communication across multiple sectors.

Essentially, the Citizen App will eliminate barriers between previously isolated data systems, allowing them to collaborate efficiently.
