Companies donate to Farmers' Day

Accra, Oct. 29, GNA - Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) and 10 other companies on Friday donated monies and a variety of items totalling 154.8 million cedis to support this year's National Best Farmer's Day celebration.

The GCB gave a cheque for 50 million cedis, while the State Insurance Company (SIC) gave 20 million cedis with accident insurance cover of 150 million cedis for the three best farmers.

Other donors included Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GHAPOHA), which presented an outboard motor, five packets of cutlasses, a lunch treat for all the farmers as well as a cruise, all totalling 51 million cedis.

Goldfields Ghana Limited gave a cheque for 10 million cedis, Domod Aluminuim gave three million cedis worth of aluminium washing basins, Atlantic Port Company donated a spraying machine valued at five million cedis.

The rest of the institutions which donated items were Crocodile Machetes Limited, which gave 25 packets of machetes, Agrofex Limited 70 pieces rosette, Polytes Industry gave bicycles and flowerpot, Multivet Company gave a cheque for three million cedis and assorted veterinary agro-products worth 8.8 million cedis and Silver Platter Company donated a cheque for five million cedis.

Mr. Courage Quashigah, Minister of Food and Agriculture expressed appreciation to the companies for supporting the Farmers' Day. 29 Oct. 04
