Company introduces new building technology

Accra, Aug. 8, GNA - ISOPANEL Limited, manufacturers of polystyrene building blocks and insulated panels and roofing sheets, on Friday said it is focused to complement government's vision of providing affordable housing to meet the aspirations of all segments of society.

Speaking at a media briefing, Mr Eric Nartey, Managing Director of the company, said two Ghanaian companies - Fidelity Group and Supercare Limited - have teamed up with a South African company to introduce the polysterene technology to help estate developers and individuals to cut down on the cost of constructing houses.

He said the technology has been in use in other countries in Africa and Europe, especially in the construction of storage facilities for agriculture products such as fruits and vegetables.

Mr Nartey said a house constructed with polysterene also helps to cut down on the cost of energy since the material does not absorb heat and, therefore, keeps the temperature in the rooms very low. He said the Management of the company is teaming up with architects, civil engineers and other groups in the construction and building industry to sell out the technology to bring down cost of houses to meet the pockets of all.

Mr Nartey said that the company was in discussion with stakeholders in countries in the West Africa Sub-Region to introduce the technology to them.
