Continental to fly Accra-New York Route

Continental Airline, the world's sixth largest airline, is seeking approval from the US Transportation Department to fly the Accra-USA route.

The Houston-based carrier will introduce non-stop services between New York/New Jersey International hub and Accra to provide the first regularly-scheduled U.S.-flag flights between the US and Ghana in many years.

It will also offer connecting service between Accra & Latin America, North America and Asia.

Current application is for a maximum of seven flights a week. A specific date has not been set when a final decision will be made.

Continental Airlines is the world's sixth-largest airline with more than 3,000 daily departures throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia. Continental serves 152 domestic and 122 international destinations -- more than any other airline in the world -- and nearly 400 additional points are served via SkyTeam alliance airlines. With 41,000 employees, the airline has hubs serving New York, Houston, Cleveland and Guam, and carries approximately 55 million passengers per year.
