Contractors working on the Boankra Integrated Logistics Terminal project have not received payments for their work since November 2023, according to Myjoyonline.com.

Despite this delay, the project is 40 percent complete, with a total contract value of $308 million.

The Parliamentary Select Committee on Roads and Transport is advocating for prompt payments to ensure the project's completion by September 2026.

Committee Chairman Kennedy Osei Nyarko, impressed with the progress, has urged the Ministry of Transport to fulfill its financial obligations to the contractors. He highlighted the project's significance for both the Ashanti Region and the northern sector of the country.

Since November, no Interim Payment Certificates (IPCs) raised have been honored. Justmoh Construction is now handling the project after the original concessionaire, Ashanti Port Services, failed to meet its financial obligations.

The project, covering 160 hectares, aims to facilitate imports and exports from northern Ghana and neighboring countries.

Currently, 12.2 kilometers of roads within the terminal are under construction, and hydrological works are mostly complete.

The Parliamentary Committee has requested all documentation related to the termination of Ashanti Port Services' contract to better understand the issues leading to this change.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Transport is making strides to regularize Justmoh Construction's contract. Both the Public Procurement Agency and the Ministry of Finance have approved the necessary steps.

Justice Amoh, CEO of Justmoh Construction, has reaffirmed the company's commitment to completing the project on schedule. He has called on Parliament members to use their influence to expedite the release of funds, emphasizing the project's national importance. The development of the Eastern and Western rail lines will further enhance the operational efficiency of the Boankra Inland Port.
