Stella Star Wash, a cost-effective laundry salon that uses high technological equipment to save time and money, has been launched by the Minister for Private Sector Development, Mr. Kwamena Bartels in Accra.

The salon, which is the first in the African sub-region, is expected to expand its services to all the regions in Ghana within the next 18 months.

Mr. Bartels praised the company for introducing the technology into the country. He said the conventional method of washing in Ghana is very tedious, time consuming and unfriendly to garments.

He expressed pleasure in the steps the private sector is taking to develop the nation. "These technological breakthroughs are creating new possibilities for improving health, nutrition, expanding knowledge, stimulating economic growth and empowering people to participate in the development of their communities," he said, citing Stella Star Wash as a good model that is worth emulation.

He promised the support of the government to regulate structures that would facilitate increase in private sector development.

Mr Bartels noted that the ownership shows the increase in women entrepreneurs in private sector development for the socio-economic advancement of Ghanaians.

Mrs. Stella Bauschulte, the owner, said there is a false perception in Ghana that using more soap for washing is the best means to brighten ones garments. She advised launderers to use lots more water for rinsing clothes and advised Ghanaians to avoid drying their clothes under the direct sun. She said direct sunlight and rays can damage fabrics.
