An Accra High court will today hear an interlocutory injunction case filed against government’s plans of ceding some of the operations of the electricity company of Ghana to a private entity.
A group calling itself the coalition against the concession of ECG which filed the case argues the move will not be in the best interest of the nation and must be shot down.
It will be recalled that following the announcement of the plan and the subsequent deep discussions held on the matter, the workers of ECG have held series of protests to stop government’s interest in the planned concession.
Besides the court action, a leading member of the Coalition, Mr. Richard Asante-Yeboah also wrote to the US embassy for it to look into what he says are unethical acts in the ongoing private participation in the ECG.
