Coventry University in partnership with Ghana Technology University College (GTUC) and African Institute for transformational Entrepreneurship has organized master-class on entrepreneurship and employability for alumni.
The master-class was purposed to equip the Ghanaian alumni of the university with requisite entrepreneurial and employability skills. Participants of the class interacted and shared ideas among themselves.
The master-class was in two face, the first session led by Mr. Simon Hill was an intensive lecture on innovation, Knowledge transfer, entrepreneurship, leadership, socio-economic development, and policy formulation. Mr. Simon is an enterprise and entrepreneurship lecturer at Coventry University, UK.
The session was led by Mr. Gideon Brefo from the British Council Ghana, his presentation was focused on qualities employers’ value in graduates including knowledge in field of study, ethics and integrity, problem solving, critical thinking, ability to work in a culturally diverse environment and work experience. As an established entrepreneur, Mr.Brefo shared with the participants his experience in the field.
This year’s mater-class saw over 60 Coventry University alumni participating. Coventry University currently has over 5000 alumni in Ghana.
The free master-class gave attendees the opportunity to take part in personal branding exercise and some selected persons were given the chance to present an elevator pitch that could be relevant at networking events or interviews.
Dr. Osei Kofi Darkwa, President of GTUC stated that Coventry University via GTUC since 2010 have been able to offer high standard Master’s programs to countless number of Ghanaians.
Madam Jane Debra, President for Coventry University Alumni, Ghana Chapter, urged patrons to cultivate the habit of seeking expert advice during challenges.
Mutaru Mumuni Muqthar, an alumni of Coventry and Executive Director of West African Center for Counter Extremism (WACCE), an independent civil society organization focused on security and counter terrorism research in West Africa was present at the Master-class.
