Politician and Businessman, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom has urged the Akufo-Addo-led administration to focus on creating the enabling environment for businesses to succeed rather than prioritizing the creation of factories in districts across the country.

According to Dr. Nduom, the priorities of governments the world over have never been to establish factories as a means of boosting growth but rather on the creation of the right business climate to allow private enterprises succeed.

Speaking on the BBC's Focus on Africa Program, Dr. Nduom said it is imperative that government rather channels its focus on “laying down effective infrastructure, constructing better roads, providing electricity and other basic amenities to ensure the factories, when created are efficiently used for the progress of society."

Dr. Nduom indicated that although government has stated its plans as far as empowering the private sector by identifying opportunities and making it easier for these opportunities to exist is concerned, it has not clearly outlined the approaches it intends adopting to achieve that.

“If someone said that ok, we are gonna create the jobs, by empowering the private sector, by identifying opportunities and making it easier for these opportunities to exist, I wouldn’t have any problem with that, what the administration has not done is that it hasn’t laid down specifically how it is going to achieve that”, he stated.

Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom has however expressed optimism in the NPP's ability to fulfill the several promises made in the build up to the 2016 general elections saying "they have done somethings to show that they intend to deliver on their promises”.
