DVLA to increase cost of licenses in July

Tens of applicants storm the DVLA office to secure new licenses and number plates every year Tens of applicants storm the DVLA office to secure new licenses and number plates every year

From July 18th, all drivers aiming to obtain a new drivers’ license will be paying far more than they ever expected.

This was revealed by the head of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) – Kwasi Agyemang Busia – who has attributed the hike in cost to the improved security features of these new drivers’ licenses.

YEN is gathering that these licenses are given to drivers just a month after application thus an improvement from the times when applicants would have had to wait for months before obtaining one.

According to the DVLA boss, “the pricing will be available before the 18th of July.” Speaking on the pricing, he believes that; “it will be reasonable for the citizenry, but it is going to be more”.

Each and every year, thousands of drivers converge at the DVLA office in Accra to secure for themselves new drivers license and also number plates.

Unfortunately, the process at the authority remains cumbersome following concerns of the presence of “goro boys” who act as middle men for applicants who are willing to pay more to secure new licenses.
