Accra, Dec. 21, GNA 96 The Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning announced on Thursday that the Controller and Accountant General was now deducting 10 per cent as rent from salaries of residents of government apartments and bungalows instead of 16 per cent. This followed the approval of the 2007 Budget Statement, which said the new figure would replace the old one pending the recommendations of a rent review committee to be set up by the Government.
A statement issued by the Ministry said the necessary changes had also been effected for the security agencies. It said the Rent Review Committee had been set up under the chairmanship of the Ministry of Water Resources, Works and Housing with representation from all major stakeholders. It said the Committee during its deliberations would also receive memoranda/inputs from all interested parties.
