Delegation from General Electric arrives in Accra

Accra, Sept. 04, GNA A delegation from General Electric Company of the US arrived in Accra on Sunday to assess their projects in the country.

The delegation would in addition, inaugurate equipment for infrastructural support at Apam Catholic Hospital, visit Ridge and Lister Hospitals, Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and Nogouchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research in Accra to explore other potential areas of support.

Mr Joe Hogan, President and Senior Vice-President of Health Care Division of the company and leader of the delegation, in a brief chat with newsmen on arrival said Ghana had the right infrastructure and requirement for their projects.

He pledged the company's commitment to sustain its partnership with Ghana for their mutual benefit.

Professor Agyeman Badu Akosa, Director General of Ghana Health Service met the delegation and said with the company's 14 billion dollar contracts in Ghana, 91We are fortunate and pleased to have such opportunity to collaborate with them.

He stressed the need for GHS to utilise the opportunity to enhance health care delivery in the country.

The company has supported the GHS, Korle-Bu and Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospitals since 2004.

Ghana has so far received about 10 million dollars worth of medical equipment and infrastructure support from the company. The delegation would be in the country for three days.
