Delta Wishes Ghana Well on its Anniversary

ACCRA, 4 March 2010 – Delta Air Lines, the first major U.S. carrier to operate scheduled nonstop service between Ghana and North America, has sent a message of goodwill to the government and people of Ghana on the occasion of the 53rd anniversary of the country’s independence.

“We are delighted to share in Ghana’s Independence Day celebration. Ghana is an important market for us and we’re happy to have been welcomed so warmly by the people of Ghana and proud to have served Accra for more than three years,” said Bobby Bryan, Delta’s commercial manager for West and East Africa.

According to Pak-Wo Shum, Managing Director of Aviation Alliance, representatives of Delta Air Lines in Ghana, Delta’s recent announcement of the launch of nonstop service between Accra’s Kotoka International Airport and Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport on 2 June underscores the company’s commitment to Ghana. “Our customers are looking forward to getting more travel options with the scheduled launch of the Accra to Atlanta service in June“, he said.

Delta was the first major U.S. carrier to operate scheduled nonstop service from Ghana and has flown more than 250,000 passengers between Accra and New York since 2006. Delta has recently re-timed its New York-JFK service to arrive earlier in the U.S., enabling passengers to connect more comfortably onto more than 50 destinations. New flight connections available in New York include Albany, N.Y., Syracuse, N.Y. and Denver; better-timed connections include Washington D.C., Atlanta, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia and Boston*.
