Aflao, Aug. 16, GNA- Diamond Cement Ghana Limited (DCGL) producers of Portland Cement at Aflao, now loads cement around the clock to prevent congestion at the delivery point.
"If we don't do 24 hours loading, we would be inconveniencing our customers", Mr Chitti Babu, General Manager of the Company told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Aflao on Friday.
He said the company does not use the Purchasing Licence Scheme (chit system) thereby enabling anybody to walk into the factory to do outright purchase as the plant now produces 55,000 tonnes when test production started in the middle of last year.
Mr Babu said the plant has a capacity to produce up to 75,000 tonnes per month and hoped to keep the current production levels of 55,000 tonnes.
He said peaceful Management-Labour relations was facilitating smooth production but said the only problem with them is nature of the un-tarred road linking the company with the main road at Aflao. He said the government has promised to rehabilitate the road but for now the company does routine re-graveling and watering.
Mr Babu said the DCGL does not have any immediate plans to establish a paper mill to produce cement packs and that the company now relies on Ghanaian and European markets for the packs.
