The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has announced to the general public that the collaboration with Ethiopian Airlines for special direct flights from London Gatwick to Kumasi Prempeh I International Airport for December 3 has been cancelled.
In a statement, the company explained that the flight for this week had to be cancelled due to the short notice given for the flight.
It, however, indicated that the flight for December 15, 2024, remains unchanged.
Last week, GACL announced it had collaborated with Ethiopian Airlines to arrange direct flights from London Gatwick to the Kumasi Prempeh I International Airport.
The management had explained that the move marks a significant milestone in enhancing connectivity between Ghana and the United Kingdom, with Kumasi becoming the destination of Ghana’s first direct international flight outside Accra.
The initiative reflects GACL’s efforts to expand air travel options and bolster regional development.
GACL also stated that the service is expected to strengthen tourism, trade, and investment opportunities for Kumasi and its surrounding regions.
