The Bank of Ghana has issued a notice to the general public, urging them to disregard fake reports of an alleged plan by the apex bank to introduce a cybersecurity levy of 1 percent to be imposed on all banking transactions.
This comes after some social media users on X (formerly Twitter) began to react to the alleged planned implementation on May 7, 2024.
However, the Bank of Ghana, in response via its official handle on X (@thebankofghana), issued a circular dismissing the claims as fake and urged the public to disregard them.
GhanaWeb Business also understands that the Central Bank has no plans to implement any such levy as suggested on social media.
