A senior Research Scientist at the Center for Scientific and Industry Research (CSIR)-Animal Research Institute, Mr Peter Asiedu, has urged government to factor livestock production into its Planting for Food and Jobs programme.
According to him, crop production should not be prioritised over livestock production.
"Planting for Food and Jobs is only about crops but we’re also saying that livestock is also one of the sectors that the government should also look into,” he said, adding that "government shouldn't look at only crop production, the government should also look at livestock production."
Mr Asiedu said this in an interaction with Adehye FM's Elisha Adarkwah at a skills development workshop organised by CCLEAr Agri-Business Incubator under the CSIR-Animal Research Institute for pig farmers in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
He said livestock production is one area which gives easy money to investors and, so, should not be ignored by government.
